“Responding Arches” is an evolving sound installation, rooted in research into the interplay between sound and physical structures. Drawing inspiration from architectural arches, Anja Cecilie Petersen explores the acoustic nuances of spaces like tunnels and gothic churches and has translated these into ceramic forms reminiscent of bells. During the Make Sound Residency she will work on an installation which can be played by percussionists in addition to a soundscape based on recordings with sounds of the ceramics. “Responding Arches” represents different spaces brought together in the same place. Several architectural sites that are in themselves incompatible are fused, and through sound they begin to intertwine.
