IAC is pleased to announce the exam exhibition by Oleg Matrokhin, graduating student from the Master of Fine Arts in Artistic Research (MFAAR) programme at Malmö Art Academy.
The past is part of our present, it is undeniable, but what does this part look like? How can or should this part of the past look like in order to become a full-fledged object of consumption? This project is dedicated to the study of the phenomenon of the spectacle of the image of the past as an object of cultural consumption: those general consistent patterns that both determine and underlie the diversity of forms and ways of using the image of the past in the present.
What is still capable to be captured by the fatigued gaze of the viewer of nowadays, from this tangled labyrinth of obscure shadows and silhouettes of the past, to be captured as something new?
