Location: Artist Studio

Patricia Morosan (born 1984 in Romania / lives and works in Berlin and Athens) is an artist working with photography, text and sound. In her practice she approaches the duality of intimacy and identity. Exploring interdisciplinarity, her artistic work addresses multiple realities and practices that draw on feminist and polycentric traditions. Her practice is often collaborative and participatory and is concerned with ideas and methods of emotional geography, wanderings and ceremonials.

During her IASPIS residency she will continue working on her project and artist book “Telepoetics: Practices of intimacy at distance”, which experiments with communication methods at a distance. Inspired by Jaques Derrida’s essay “Telepathy”, the project is a hybrid project combining sound recordings, photography, poetic epistolary text, artistic and scientific research on telepathy. Also, during the residency Patricia Morosan will be in contact with Lund Konsthall concerning the program based on her work shown in the exhibition “Ways of Unseeing.”

Patricia Morosan studied photography at Ostkreuzschule Berlin and at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig. Her works are being shown internationally: at Les Rencontres de la Photographie d’Arles, Fotohaus Paris-Berlin (2019); Les Boutographies, Pavillion Populaire Montpellier (2019); in the Museum of Contemporary Art, Bucharest (2019, 2021); Haus am Kleistpark, Berlin (2019); ICR Gallery Lissabon (2021); Villa Perochon, Niort/France (2021) Kommunale Galerie Berlin (2021); Goethe Institut Bucharest (2022); 12-14 contemporary Gallery, Vienna (2022); Franzkowiak Gallery Berlin (2023); Macadam Gallery, Paris (2023) etc.. In 2019 she won the Jury Prize of Les Rencontres de la Photographie de Montpellier, and the Courage Award of the Women Journalist Association in Germany. She was nominated for the Art Award Haus am Kleistpark in Berlin (2019), for the Wellcome Photography Award London (2020), the Documentary Prize Wüstenrot (2020), Gomma Grant (2021), BUP Award (2022). She received several grants for her work: Initial Grant of the Art Academy Berlin (2021) and various grants from the Berlin Senate for Culture and Europe (2021, 2022, 2023). She has two monographies published: “Sun Stands Still” (die Nacht Publishing, Germany, 2017) and (I) “Remember Europe” (Fotohof edition, Austria, 2022).
